Another step forward in the march towards unity

I received a story from a disciple that touched my heart deeply few days ago. Two people who enquired one staff member about the Yoga courses had apparently asked if the Sandhya Maarga meditation sessions conducted at the Sandhya Maarga centres are religiously-inclined: "Does the meditation practised here have something to do with religion?"
That was when a senior Indian lady who regularly attends the meditation session at the Klang centre ever yweek, who was waiting at the meditation room for the session to commence, replied (even though the question was not directed towards her): "NO! This has nothing to do with religion! It is spirituality! It is about the expansion of the heart and consciousness!"

Her response shocked the people there because apparently, she is usually very quiet during every week's session.

"What are the benefits you've experienced after you started meditating here?" they asked again.
"I find peace. Whenever I come here, I am at peace."

I usually encourage everyone to meditate for others and participants usually select a common theme for some. She was very vocal that night and had voiced out that she was fed up with the extremism practised everywhere and would like to see people rise beyond the name of religion and just be spiritual. (Mind you, she is no atheist. In fact, she is a very devout Hindu.)

What she had said was correct - word for word. Meditation need not be associated with any religion. Meditation simply means to be; to be in-sync with yourself. Be one with the breath. You will find better clarity about who you really are. Spirituality is different from religion. Everyone defines spirituality in their own way but at the end of the day, most would agree that the term would only mean one thing - to expand one's heart so that it is filled with love and righteousness; to find peace within.

Listening to the incident that day made me smile until today. Someone is listening. It is another step forward in this spiritual march towards unity.

Love and light,
Genevieve
