When I say "I love you"...

Whenever I utter the words "I love you" to anyone, I see them not as a 'body' but as myself. To "LOVE" is to rise beyond impermanence. There is only one LOVE pulsating throughout the Universe, only taking its shape in different forms. Love is water. Whether you put 1 litre of water in a bottle, watching it take the form of the bottle, or put it in a jug, and it takes the form of a jug, the 1 litre of water still remains the same. We can say that LOVE is also like electricity that lights up different devices. Whether in the form of a light bulb or the moving blades of a fan, the electric current remains the same, only with different resistance (just like the resistance of a human heart).
So what is LOVE? When you truly love someone, you accept them as a whole. Leave behind the expectations and attachments. Just like the electric current that flows through different devices with different resistance, human beings too have different characters and different resistance of the degree of LOVE. Many people these days equate LOVE to the feelings of infatuation. LOVE is not confined to the body. In fact, LOVE is beyond bodily attraction. Any bodily attraction is not LOVE but 'LUST'. What do you lust after when the body is but a dream? All that one lusts for will eventually turn into ashes. No doubt, there are various ways that humans have come up with to express their love for another; a hug, a kiss, cards, flowers, gifts, sex, surprises etc. These are nice and thoughtful gestures, but LOVE is the underlying principle of the entire creation. It is beyond a hug, kiss, cards, flowers, gifts, sex or any surprise in the world. To illustrate an example, imagine a person you truly love lying on the hospital bed in a vegetable state - There are no hugs, no kisses, no cards, no flowers, no gifts, no surprises, no sex etc. Do you love the person any less? If your answer is "no", that's LOVE. People who know me know that I like staring into a person's eyes. The eyes are the window to one's soul. Behind each person's eyes is a story; an entire cosmic play that is playing simultaneously with their worldly life. In fact, looking into a person's eyes is more fascinating than any movie produced in history. In my eyes, everyone is beautiful. Everyone is lovely. All are perfect as they are. Even their 'imperfections' are perfect. I also like reminding the people around me how beautiful they are. When I do this, I do not say they are beautiful because of their physical beauty, which is absolutely foolish because the body is impermanent. When I say "You're so beautiful", I refer to the glory of the Spirit pulsating in them. I also like reminding the people around me how much they are loved because more often than not, people 'forget' that they are loved and become unkind to themselves and to others. Don't you dare think you are not loved! Did you not know that the whole universe dances in perfect rhythm just for you? The next time you think so, remember that the trees produce oxygen without any effort on your side just so you can breathe. Remember that the sun never fails to rise in the East and sets in the West just so that it can sustain many functions of this planet. Remember that your heart is pumping without any conscious effort at all so that you can experience life. So, don't you dare think you are not loved because you are! You are loved more than you will ever realise. Love and light, Geneviève
