Are the rivers different from the ocean?
The ocean is the Universal Energy Field, while the rivers are akin to the individualised ego-existence. Despite the fact that there are many rivers that flow towards the ocean to 'merge' with it, they were never separate in the first place. Similarly, the 'i' that you think exist is actually verily the "I" itself.
You cannot merge into something that was never separate from you. The word 'merge' only applies within the context of duality. In Advaita Vedanta (philosophy of non-duality), there is never a need to "merge" but to "just be". You can only merge when two separate objects exist, but when there is only one, even that one ceases to exist.
Within the context of Energy Medicine, author of "Hands of Light" Barbara Brennan has also clearly said that the Human Energy Field (HEF) and the Universal Energy Field (UEF) are not separate, but ONE.
