Be Your Own Kind of Beautiful

Been there, done that. So what if you're called a nerd in school? I was proud to be a nerd!

Wearing track suits to school every day with an oversized T-Shirt, I had someone telling me that I looked as though I was wearing pyjamas to go to bed.

Not dressing up and not being fascinated with topics like boys or shopping etc. would obviously place you in the unpopular group at school. So what? Keeping up with peer pressure doesn't bring you anywhere in life. You'd be surprised that the underdogs at school will achieve more later in life as they had to learn to deal with social pressure and how to stand on their ground and not give in to petty expectations of society. They also learn to distinguish real friendship from superficial ones. More importantly, they learn compassion; to treat others and take other people's preferences with respect.

What is most important is within, not without. Human beings can be so superficial these days. External appearance is now used to judge a person's value. It's okay to be beautiful on the outside as long as you feel happy. But don't judge others who are also happy with their own styles and being who they are.

True beauty lies in character, not the body.

Love and light,
Genevieve
