Old Classic Cars Reflects Poor Social Status?
In response to my love for old classic cars, someone asked: "Wouldn't driving an old car highlight poor social status? People are realistic these days. They judge you based on what house you own or what cars you drive."
Man's ignorance. I chuckled for awhile before replying: "What social status? Any status that anyone has is not expressed by the material objects that they have but the quality of thoughts they harbour in their minds. In my humble opinion, many of those who drive flashy cars try too hard to show that they have a status. In reality, they are acting out of insecurity that they may have 'no status' at all in other people's minds. Is that real social status? After all, what do you own in this world? You own nothing. You brought nothing to this world and you will not bring anything with you when you depart. So let the fools judge. Your Mercedes and bungalow are not going to fit inside your coffin. Those who turned back twice to see your beautiful house or car aren't going to remember you for the objects you once owned.
Now real social status would mean how much good you have impacted in other people's lives. It is a true blessing to give. So who is the rich one and who is poor? The one who gives or the one who only knows how to hoard?"
